AJ or Festac. Who becomes the HOOD Champion?




Ital Sounds with Covenant Child has obtained the franchise of STING in Jamaica, dubbing it STING NIGERIA–to this end they have come up with Ital Sounds Riddim Clash, repping your hood, a means to discover and harness dancehall talents.


Final screening and pep talk for Ital Sounds Riddim Clash, repping your hood, took place December 2, 2015 at Nuff Edge Studio in Ikeja.

Representing AJ City are Emmizah, MD Righteous Dread Locks, Wisdom Wiz, Diff Morgan and Edmond Silk Lt. whereas Emmanuel Bigman, Nick Ben, Jah Meek, Born Star and Jeff are representing Festac respectively.

AJ City an abbreviation of Ajegunle, one of the most outstanding notorious ghettos in Lagos State, Nigeria is unarguable recognized as the pioneer house of talent especially music, dance and sports.

The story is moving from grace to grace, as the list of talent(s) from AJ City seems to have NO end. Thumbs Up AJ City.

Festac an abbreviation for Festival, Arts and Culture in 1977, pioneer the mass housing estate scheme in Nigeria if not Africa and remains Nigeria’s most celebrated festival city.

Today, the story has change. Festac is arguably associated with entertainment and the hospitality industry. Standing tall will be the newly revamped Durban Hotel now Golden Tulip.    

Recognizable talents from AJ city are the pioneering old school disc jockey – Grand Master Lee, Daddy Showkey, Daddy Fresh, Marvelous Benji, Oriesta Femi whereas Festac is the home to Nigeria’s and Africa’s most celebrated living Legend – Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly with the stage 2face. Sound Sultan, African China to mention but a few.

Though, there have been lots of misconception about what Ital Sounds Riddim Clash, Repping your Hood is about. Some have mistaken it as a Talent Hunt while others perceive it as a reality music competition. For the essence of simplicity, Ital Sounds Riddim Clash is a lyrical challenge between reggae dancehall artiste A against artiste B on any given dancehall reggae tune. The 'surviving' dancehall reggae artiste standing becomes the Champion.

Indeed, the dice have been cast, the stage already set while the audience doubling as the judge is itching for the best of rhythmical dancehall reggae lyrics on any played dancehall reggae tune to decide…
